My friend Wayne gave me this "Amaryllis" (Hippeastrum) as a gift. Of course I had to peel off the wax and plastic on bulb and pot it up. I broke off one of the flower stems as I did so, but I think the bulb may actually have been grateful for that, since being water deprived in the wax would have put a lot of stress on the bulb. Still the stem grew amazingly fast and within weeks it bloomed. I love the white blooms with green center. I hope it will grow to bloom again next year. I haven't had much success with growing these types of hippies.
