zephranthes

It's monsoon time, so time for the rain lilies to bloom.

  1. Very, very nice! I had no idea you have Zephyranthes. The first ones I recall in Abq were at a house W of Tramway / S of Spain in the mid-1990's, later removed. Since, I only know of the ones I used in my old office's courtyard E of Nob Hill, those thrived, evergreen all winter but stiffer than Liriope.

Tell more - how long ago were yours' planted? Have they spread any by rhizomes?

A very tough plant and highly underused. Now, if we can get the last few weeks of this monsoon season to finish nice and wet...

  2. My plants came with the house. Yes, they are very tough, and with evergreen grassy leaves. I'm thinking of using them in the courtyard, a grassy no-mow replacement for the grass.
